Mr. Gold has over a decade of experience as an Information Technology professional. During his time as a consultant, Mr. Gold supported healthcare, law, education, entertainment, broadcast, and retail clients. He has applied his technology expertise creating technical documentation intended for both technical engineers, as well as C-level executives. Mr. Gold has been recognized for his communication skills and his dedication to ensuring the best possible experience for clients.
Mr. Gold has been working as a Senior Security Administrator for a single client, handling the day to day technical and compliance tasks, for the past two years. He also assisted this client in their transition from v3 to v5 of the NERC CIP standards. He has been responsible for the deployment and upkeep of various substation and control center systems and has been involved in multiple response and recovery operations. Most recently he led this client’s CIP self-certification process.
Prior to working with this client, Mr. Gold has participated in a wide variety of contracts, including penetration testing, forensic investigations, cyber vulnerability assessments, and gap analyses.
Earlier in Career
Prior to working with Network & Security Technologies, Mr. Gold worked for Microsoft as a Senior Consultant where he helped lead the integration of two newly acquired business units into the Microsoft IT infrastructure. This involved a complete network overhaul, server migration, and security review. Mr. Gold also led the development and implementation of new access control procedures for all Microsoft employees at the site.
Prior to Microsoft, Mr. Gold assisted clients with PCI-DSS and HIPAA compliance, as well as leading security reviews utilizing the NIST SP 800 standards. Additionally, he was responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of the backup systems for over 100 different clients. For more than a dozen of these clients, Mr. Gold also prepared and managed disaster recovery plans, of which many were activated and tested during the recovery efforts following Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
Mr. Gold received a Master of Science degree in Cybersecurity Technology in 2018 from the University of Maryland, where he also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Cybersecurity, with a minor in Homeland Security. He is currently pursuing an MBA. He maintains a number of certifications including Sensitive Security Information certified (SSI), and Certified in Disaster Preparedness (CDP).
