Hans Downer is Senior Vice President of Global Professional Services
and Canadian Sales at Entrust. In this role, he is responsible
for customer support, installation and deployment activities
associated with Entrust products, and the Canadian Sales Team.
Hans has been with Entrust since December 1997 and has grown the
Professional Services team from a group of 10 based in Ottawa to
the current global team that is focused on worldwide deployment
initiatives. Under his leadership, the Customer Support team has
grown to be recognized as one of the leaders in the Security Market
space. Revenue growth, process improvements, and expense controls
have led to the doubling of margin percentages since 1997. In April
2003, Hans’s responsibilities were expanded to encompass
Canadian Sales with a goal of driving significant deployment of
the Government of Canada Secure Channel and increasing Canadian
license sales in the enterprise and Provincial Government sectors.
Prior to joining Entrust, Hans was Vice President of Sales & Marketing
at Interpath, a large regional ISP based in Raleigh, NC. In addition,
Hans worked as Vice President of Business Development at Imonics,
a regional systems integrator focused on the Health Care vertical.
While at Imonics, Hans served as Vice President of Customer Service
and Telecom Network Design at the startup Physicians Desktop Company.
The majority of Hans’s career was spent with Nortel in a
variety of roles of increasing responsibility, culminating as Vice
President Customer Service Northeast Region for Nortel’s
Switching Division. Early in his career, Downer worked at Canadian
General Electric and Alcan in Information Technology.
Hans holds a Bachelors of Mathematics degree from the University
of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
