| Mr. Jacobs brings over six years of experience in application development,
system and network design, as well as information security. His career began
at the Applied Physics Lab – University of Washington (APL-UW), developing
onboard computer based training applications and battle simulations for the US Navy.
While working at APL-UW, Mr. Jacobs participated in the development of classified and unclassified
training and simulation products for the Office of Naval Intelligence, the Office of Naval Research,
the National Science Foundation and other organizations. Mr. Jacobs was also responsible for
the administration of his group's web and application servers.
Subsequently, Mr. Jacobs was a Projects Manager for EduSystems Gulf, Inc., in Dubai, UAE.
During that period, he directed the implementation of a secure network that served as the
backbone of an IP based CCTV surveillance system at a leading military academy.
His work dramatically enhanced the academy's security apparatus, offering security
officers access to real-time audio and video feeds to classrooms within the campus,
using a standard personal computer.
Focusing on the energy industry, Mr. Jacobs has spent much of the past three years assisting
electrical utilities with regulatory and industry-based security compliance, including
the NERC CIP-002 – CIP-009 standards. Mr. Jacobs has played a key role in
assessing substation and control system security, authoring security policy,
designing networks with enhanced security services and evaluating emerging security technologies.
Mr. Jacobs is proficient with a multitude of technologies including network infrastructure,
firewall platforms, and operating systems used in traditional and SCADA applications.
Mr. Jacobs received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington, where
he majored in the study of Near-Eastern languages. He is also a Cisco Certified Network
Professional (CCNP).
Since joining Network & Security Technologies in October of 2003, Mr. Jacobs has worked on
high-profile security-related projects for leading North American energy providers,
international telecommunications corporations as well as a luxury domestic and international
automotive manufacturer.
